- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of metallurgy
- Knowledge of various welding techniques, must know arc, and oxygen welding
- Knowledge of manual and mechanical welding techniques
- TIG, MIG welding knowledge will give extra benefit
