- Ensures that all customers are greeted promptly and given fair estimates on costs and time required for repairs and maintenance.
- Drive the vehicle with the technician and the customer to gain firsthand knowledge of the vehicular problems.
- Maintain and manage a daily record of repairs and services of vehicles undertaken and completed.
- Ensure delivery of vehicles to customers on time.
- Handle and manage softly the minor complaints and irritants with the customers.
- Handle customer inquiries and respond to their needs in a cool, courteous, and prompt manner.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the workshop ensuring that customer requirements are met.
- Create, initiate and monitor new procedures so customer expectations can not only be met but also exceeded.
- To ensure complete Customer Satisfaction through clear communication, working as a team, and considering the customer first in all that we do.
- Support in Hiring, motivating, counseling, and monitoring the performance of all service department staff.
- Accounts for all documents; ensures that none are missing, and all are processed correctly.
- Holds weekly department meetings.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Ensures that the work areas and customer waiting areas are kept clean.
- Ensures the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Other tasks as assigned.
The position of Service Manager requires strong management and coordination skills as well as the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task. The service manager must also be able to lead the service team to ensure that operational and customer satisfaction metrics are achieved.
- Experienced in managing a workshop and have a technical/mechanical background
- Experience of working in a fast-paced operational environment
- Operational management experience is essential
- Able to demonstrate high-level organizational skills and an ability to communicate to and direct operational team members and first-line supervisors
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field
- 5 years of hands-on auto industry experience with thorough knowledge of shop repair processes
- 3 years of analytical experience in various specialties of the automotive industry including Sales Operations, Dealer Agreements, Marketing, Parts, and Service
- Computer literate
- Dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
- Highly effective leadership skills, including above-average communication skills
- Good communication skills and language proficiency in English, Kinyarwanda, and French
- Experienced in Financial Management would be advantageous
